Lyrics - Music India Online
Shot 45 years back, this is still the most perfect song ever shot for a tamil film. And then there is Pachai Niramey from Alai Paayuthey.
From the camera to editing to lyrics, music and performance, just about everything dazzles here. A classic example of aaberi raaga which has created magic in just about every song it has been used, on-screen.
Anytime Pasamalar is played on cable, the whole of Tamilnadu starts to shed a tear. A classic, it really is.

So true Lazy! I shed a small tear even now when the transition from the happy 'maaman thangai magalaana...' to the sad 'ulagai vilai pesuvaar..maaman thangai...'

LG,
Lyrics are really beautiful and if you listed top 10 songs of tamil industry, surely this will ranked as 1. Kaalathal Azhiyaadha Varigal.

LG, that songs is my dad's and mom's favorite. Awesome... the images interleaving with text gave it a flicker like appeal!

"Kaalamidhu Kaalamidhu Kannurangu Magale !
Kaalamidhai Thavaravittaal Thookkam illai Magale !!
Thookam illai Magale !!"
Whenever i hear "Malarndhu Malaraadha.." i immediately play this song, to stay in mood.

according to me, this song is a perfect example of how ppl like bhimsing used kannadasan to milk as much emotions as possible in a song. The lyrics r great, but, the acting and the situation is too melodramatic and really lays it on thick for the womenfolk of the "then" tamizhagam to come and exchange bucketloads of cash for bucketloads of tears.

All songs in Pasamalar are excellent, this being the best of the lot. Malargalai Pol is another favourite of mine.

yes, this is a lovely lullaby...
my fav. lines are "kannil mani poala, maniyin nizhal pola kalandhu pirandhomadaa...indha mannum kadal vaanum maraindhu mudindhaalum marakka mudiyaadhadaa...uravai pirikka mudiyaadhadaa..."
it is a testament to the movie's value and "ageless" quality that ppl. still refer to an affectionate bro-n-sis interaction as "paasa malar sentiment-aa!"
also love mullum malarum and kizhakku cheemaiyile, STRICTLY IN THAT ORDER!

LG, excellent song! unmatched acting. cant imagine a sunch an honest and 'straight-to-the-point' song like this today. guess its based on the success of this movie that Nadigar Thilagam decided to act in more tragedies than entertainers.
my favourite sivaji song is 'vandha naal mudhal indha naal varai vaanam maaravillai.......'
andha lyrics mattum thamizhla irundha innum nalla irukkum!

Ram: Black = Iravin nirame in the song!
Rasu: There are so many colors that are not mentioned there :D
