   I had a similar opinion when I heard Daler Mehndi singing the title track of RDB. But when I later heard it, loved it. Thats the magic of Rahman. And when it Maniratnam’s movie, the music will surely sky rock.

   Though Bappi’s singing is usually over the top, I thought he suited well for the title song for Taxi No 9211 (‘Mumbai Nagariyaa…’). Maybe, ARR would have picked him for a reason.

   My guess is since story of Guru is happening around 60-80s , Bappida is the apt choice for singing those disco numbers ..

   I dont think it will be too much of a comedy…. Like srkriz said, Bappi mustve been selected because the movie is supposed to be in the 60s to 80s…

   I am sure it will make perfect sense when we actually hear the song..

   Any idea when Guru is supposed to be out?

   Have you heard Taxi 9211′s Mumbai nagariya’s song? If you haven’t please do. You would be pleasantly surprised. I was shocked to know that it’s been sung by Bappi lahiri…really impressive. So I am not exactly ‘rofl’ing reading the news.

    As long as Bappi Lahari doesn’t make his presence physical, it should be okay. With soaring gold prices, that would be the last thing married men would want to see with their wives around.

    PS: out of topic – with due respect to the fans of the movie, IMHO, folding a $10 bill into a cone and watching it burn is a bit more entertaining than spending it on pudupettai.
